It doesn’t really feel like Fall yet and it might seem like the holidays are so far away, but they’re going to quickly sneak up on us!  So while it is finally time to start making delicious fall soups and pies, start looking for local vendors and fun holidays boutiques to start your holiday shopping and find some special items to grace your holiday table.  We’ve got some great shopping events, family fun, group outings and date night ideas in this week’s Inland Empire Weekend Fun Guide.

INLAND EMPIRE WEEKEND EVENTS

RIVERSIDE WEEKEND EVENTS

11/7-9, 14-16, Musical –  Shrek the Musical by Performance Riverside at Landis Performing Arts Center Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20-30.

11/7-8, Shopping – Holiday Marketplace at The Grove Friday from 3:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Includes handmade and vintage items  from over 50 vendors.

11/7-8, Theater – “My Son Pinnochio Jr.” with Riverside Children’s Theatre at Romona High School Theater Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 7 p.m.  Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

11/7, Concert – Dropkick Murphys with Blood or Whisky and Bryan McPherson  at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium at 7:30. Tickets are $29.50 to the 16 and over show.

11/7, Poetry – Other Desert Mothers poetry reading by Ruth Nolan at the Riverside Art Museum. Wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m., reading begins at 7 p.m. Event is free to the public, copies of books will be available for sale.

11/8-9, Fitness Expo – Clark’s Nutrition Health and Fitness Expo on the Main Street pedestrian mall between Mission Inn Ave. and 6th street from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and 5:45 a.m.- 1`2 p.m. Sunday. Demonstrations, samples, prizes and more. Free to the public, coincides with the Mission Inn Run.

11/8, Concert – Dalian University Orchestra performs as part of California Baptist University’s Homecoming celebration at 8 p.m. on the school’s front lawn.  Event is free to the public.

11/8, Cooking Class – Healthy Cooking Made Simple cooking class through Necessary Nutrition Academy beginning at  10 a.m. Budget friendly ideas, understanding food labels and more. $15 for members and first-time guests, $25 returning guests, includes light lunch and samples.

11/8, Gardening – Gardening with Native Plants class with Western Municipal Water District at Landscapes of Southern California from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Class is free to the public.

11/8, Marching Band – Big Orange Classic Field Show competition at Riverside City College’s Wheelock Stadium. Featuring local high school bands and the RCC Marching Tigers. Shows are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5 – 10 p.m.  Daytime admission is $7 for adults, $5 for 12 and younger. Evening show is $10 for adults and $7 for children.

11/8, Concert – Ground Floor Broadway photography exhibit and concert at First Congregational Church as part of their music series. Featuring composers Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber and more. $20 admission to concert at 7 p.m., wine and cheese reception and photo exhibit directly before, art on sale after program.

11/9, Run – Mission Inn Run including half marathon, 10K, 5K and kid’s run. Races begin at 7 a.m.- 8:30 a.m., kids run at 10:30 a.m. Registration is $15-65, race benefits the Mission Inn Foundation and Museum.

11/9, Art Exhibit  –  “Art In The Gardens” exhibit and art sale at the University of California Riverside Botanic Gardens from 10a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free for UCRBG Friends members, $5 for public. Parking is free in Lot 13.

 

REDLANDS WEEKEND EVENTS

11/6-23, weekends, Theater – “Chasing Manet” at Redlands Footlighters at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturday, 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15, $10 for students with ID.

11/7, Sherlock Holmes – Check out theater performance Sherlock Holmes from Lifehouse Theater.

11/8-9, Flower Show – The Garden and Floral Arrangers Guild presents “Floral Fantasy” flower show with workshops, vendors and more at Kendall Place at Plymouth Village. Event is Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for ages 13 and older and include both days and workshops.

11/8, Dance – St. Mary’s Ballet Folklorico of Redlands 40th anniversary celebration and fundraising event at Redlands East Valley High School Blackstone Theater at 3 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 each for the two dance performances.

11/8, Softball  – Charity softball tournament to benefit Building a Generation at Clement Middle School. Registration begins at 7 a.m., first pitch at 8 a.m. For registration papers check website.

SAN BERNARDINO WEEKEND EVENTS

11/8, Theater  – Hits of the 60’s and 70’s performed in “Aquarius” at the California Theater of the Performing Arts at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $39.50-76.

11/8, Cheerleading – Pacific Coast Magic cheerleading school “Showcase of Stars” at the National Orange Show Events Center Orange Pavilion. Doors open at 11 a.m., show begins at noon. Food and vendors at event, $10 admission for ages 5 and up.

 

CORONA WEEKEND EVENTS

11/8, Planes –  Antique aircraft on display at the Corona Municipal Airport from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Pilots from the Corona Pilots Association will be on hand to answer questions.

11/8, Driving Class – Teen  driver class at the Corona Police Department from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Free class includes films, guest speakers and interactive role playing. Enroll beforehand, call (951) 736-2355 for details.

 

CLAREMONT, UPLAND & POMONA WEEKEND EVENTS

11/7, Concert – Pierce the Veil and Sleeping with Sirens at the Fox Pomona. Tickets are $35 at the door, all-ages show starts at 7 p.m.

11/8-2/22/15, Art Exhibit – Wood sculpture exhibit featuring the art of John Svenson at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. Admission to gallery is included with garden membership or with garden admission of $4-8. Free admission for Claremont Museum of Art members.

11/8, Bike Ride – 10th annual Tour de Foothills through Claremont. 33, 62, 72 and 100-mile courses begin and end in Claremont Village. Races begin at 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Registrations are $70-170, a $20 late fee applies to registrations on Friday and Saturday morning.

11/8, Beer and Wine Festival – Tour de Brews at the Claremont Depot from 12-5 p.m. in conjunction with the Tour de Foothills. Live music, regional wineries and craft breweries. Pre-sale tickets are $30-50 for admission, $10 for designated drivers.

11/8, Dancing – Tanktacular 2.0 at the Fox Pomona beginning at 9 p.m. Wear a tank top, best one gets gift card prize. $20 at the door, $14 presale. 18 and over to enter, 21 and over to drink, ID required to enter event.

11/8, Art Walk – Monthly free Art Walk through downtown Pomona galleries from 6-9 p.m. Free admission to galleries, restaurants and shops open late for event. Free trolley service from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

11/8, Makers Faire – SoCal MakerCon at the Fairplex from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes battling robots demonstration, 3D printer giveaway, speakers, vendors and more. Admission is $15-35, kids 10 and younger are $10.

11/8, Seed Class – Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden Seed Conservation Program Manager Even Meyer talks about working with the largest seed bank of CA natives and methods used for seed storage and germination from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.  Registration for the class is $15 for members, $20 for the public, check website for registration details.

11/8, Chalk Art – Chalk Art Festival at Thomas Plaza in downtown Pomona from 7:45 a.m.- 3 p.m. Live entertainment, cash prizes, winners announced at 3 p.m. Pre-registration is necessary for the free event, see website for details.

11/8, Genealogy –Pomona Valley Genealogy Society meeting and speaker at the Pomona Public Library’s conference room. Meeting begins at 2 p.m., speaker Gena Philibert-Ortega discusses FamilySearch.

11/9, Herb Walk – Guided medicinal herb walk featuring California natives through Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  Bring sack lunch and water bottle, limited registration. Fee is $20 for garden members, $25 for public.

11/9, Dental Care – 10th annual Emergency Dental Treatment Event at California Dental in Upland from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Includes fillings, root canals, treatments, cleanings and more.  First come, first served basis.

ONTARIO, RANCHO CUCAMONGA & FONTANA  WEEKEND EVENTS

11/6-9, Comedy – Charlie Murphy performing at the Ontario Improv. Tickets are $27 for the 18 and over shows, two-item minimum. Shows are Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 8 and 10:15 p.m., Saturday at 7 and 9:15 p.m., Sunday at 7 p.m.

11/7-9, Yard Sales – Quarterly yard sale weekend throughout the city of Ontario. Sales allowed from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on residential properties, only personal property allowed for sale. Sales advertised by signs on properties only. For questions contact the Business License Department at (909) 395-2022.

11/7-9, Home and Garden Show – The Ontario Home and Garden Show at the Ontario Convention Center. Free admission, hundreds of exhibits, unique discounts and giveaways. Free admission, show hours are 12-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Parking is $9 for cars and motorcycles.

11/7, Fundraiser – 20th annual charity auction supporting Law Enforcement of Ontario at the Ontario Convention Center. 6-7 p.m. wine lasting and appetizers, 7 p.m. auction featuring wines, celebrity memorabilia and professional goods and services. $40 at the door, may sell out in advance, for more info call (909)224-3675. 11/7, Arena Soccer – Ontario Fury vs. Monterrey Flash at Citizen’s Business Bank Arena. Doors open at 6:05 p.m., game start at 7:05. Tickets are $10-40, parking is $5 cash.

11/8-9, Embroidery – Anita Goodesign embroidery party workshop at the Ontario Convention Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Registration is $99 and includes lunch, use of machines and free products, including free sampler exclusive to event. Parking is $9 for autos and motorcycles at convention center.

11/8-9, Racing – Speed Ventures open track day at the Auto Club Speedway. Races begin $190 a day early sign-up registration fee,  $10 entry fee for drivers, guests and spectators.  Check-in day of race by 6:50 a.m.  See website for more details.

11/8, Meeting – Fontana Historical Society quarterly membership meeting at Cypress Neighborhood Center from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Includes potluck lunch and speaker discussing historic preservation activities in City Hall. Public welcome.

11/8, Craft Fair – INSPIREDInland Market ‘Second Saturdays’ market at Joseph Philippi Winery from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wine tasting, barbecue, artists, vendors and vintage items.

11/8, Parade – Founder’s Day community parade “Proud to be healthy RC – “Let’s Move” through Victoria Gardens beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Monet and North Mainstreet.

11/8, Hockey – Ontario Reign vs. the Utah Grizzlies at 6 p.m. at Citizen’s Business Bank Arena. Doors open at  5 p.m., Tickets are $10-55, parking $5 cash.

11/9, Driving Clinic –  The BMW Car Club Los Angeles chapter hosts a car control clinic at the Auto Club Speedway. Registration includes lunch, classroom education and time behind the wheel with an instructor. Must be BMW club member, see website for details.

 

CHINO WEEKEND EVENTS

11/7, Family Event – First Friday at Chino Youth Museum from 3-5 p.m. Entertainers, crafts and fun for whole family. Event is free, pre-registration required.

 

TEMECULA AND PERRIS WEEKEND EVENTS

11/7-16, weekends, Theater – “Junie B. Jones” at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8-15.

11/7, Art Exhibit  – Art Off The Walls event featuring local artists with music and refreshments at The Truax Building in Old Town Temecula from 7-9 p.m. Free to participating artists and public, wait list forming for artists to be featured.

11/7, Golf  – Glow Ball Tournament at Temecula Creek Inn.  Play with glow-in-the-dark ball on course lit with glow sticks. Banquet at 4 p.m., shotgun start at 5:30 p.m.  $65 per golfer or $260 a foursome.

11/7, Comedy – Broadway Starz Family Theater fundraiser featuring comedy from PRN and Mickie Arnett Band performing at the Broadway Starz Theater. Music begins at 7 p.m., comedy at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at door.

11/8-12/15, Christmas Trees – Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley’s Christmas Tree Lane at Temecula Promenade near Macy’s. Raffle tickets are $1 for a chance to win the decorated tree of your choice.

11/8-9, 11, 15-16, Thomas the Tank Engine – A Day out with Thomas at the Orange Empire Railway Museum. 25 minute ride on Thomas and photographs with Sir Topham Hatt. Event includes storytelling, television episode viewing station and more. Recommended to arrive an hour before departure time.  Tickets are $21-25.

11/8,  K9 Event – The public is invited to watch the second half of the annual Riverside County K9 Trials and check out safety teams booths and demonstrations. Trials begin at 8 a.m. at  Linfield Christian School.

11/8, Art and Wine – Painting and wine class with Art Plus Vino at the Viva Vino Spanish Tapas and Wine Bar from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. $45 a student, or two for $80.

11/8, Craft Sale – Heritage Mobile Home Park Craft Fair and Bake Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 31130 South General Kearny Road.  Free admission.
