Inland Empire Local Star | The Green Gypsie

Small Business Saturday may be over but it doesn’t mean you have to stop supporting local businesses during this holiday shopping season.  One of my new favorite shops and a must on my list this year is The Green Gypsie in Claremont.  You may have caught my Instagram of the free gift I received with my purchase there – a handmade succulent-in-a-cork magnet.  It’s a little hard to describe so check out the photos in this post. ;-)

If you appreciate eco-friendly, chic, urban and vintage home decor then this store is definitely for you.  If you’re looking for something unique and different to spruce up your home then you’ll want to add a trip to The Green Gypsie in Claremont to your to-do list.  Why not make a day of it and stay for a meal and check out the rest of the Claremont Village.  Check out our Claremont Stay-cation blog post for some great ideas!

The fabulous founders of The Green Gypsie – Amanda and Angela – took time out of their busy schedule to talk to us about their shop.  Check out their interview below and make plans to go!

Q: Tell us about The Green Gypsie…
Amanda and Angela: The Green Gypsie specializes in eco-friendly home goods and décor.  The majority of our items are handcrafted by individual artisans, many of whom are working out of their garage or second bedroom.  Almost all of our products have been up cycled, recycled, or repurposed in some fashion.  Anything that is not recycled from something else is compostable, eco-friendly, or made with natural ingredients.

Q: What makes your business unique?
A&A: The whole concept of having almost everything recycled is unique.

Q: Where is your business located (address) and how long have you been there?
A&A: We are located at 526 1st Street in Claremont CA and we have been here for 6 months.

Q: Why did you choose to locate your business in the IE and specifically in the city you chose?
A&A: We are located in the fabulous historical Claremont Packing House.  This is a fabulous old building that used to house the citrus packing factory.  It has amazing architecture and brings a sense of old world and industrialization.  When the space opened up we had to have it!

Q: What do you like about being in the Inland Empire and specifically in Claremont?
A&A: Claremont seems to be a city that is very community oriented.  There is constant activity around the village because of the colleges and because of the variety of places to come eat and shop and socialize.  We really love that personally and for our business.  So often there is an event of some sort happening around here and such different events and activities that the people who attend them are constantly changing.  Claremont has a way of not only drawing in their own community to be a part of what is happening, but the surrounding communities as well, this is great exposure for our store.

Q: What do you hope to see happen with your business in the next year?
A&A: We are just a baby so hopefully we will continue to grow and establish some roots here in Claremont.

Thanks to Amanda and Angela for sharing their experience with us and for bringing another great small business to the Inland Empire.  We wish you both much success!
