Stay Fit With Kids in the IE

Hi neighbors –

Remember our guest blogger Stephanie Gomez from True 10 Fitness?  Last time, she shared her 4 ways to stay fit in the Inland Empire and she’s back to tell us how we can stay fit this Summer with our family and kids in the Inland Empire.  They’re great recommendations on how to stay fit and spend time with family – two birds, one stone, right?  *wink*

1. Mojave Narrow Half Marathon & Healthy Hart 5K
Not quite ready for that triathlon above (albeit a mini)? How about starting with just the running? This race even has a Kid’s Mile that you and junior could tackle together!
Mojave Narrows Regional Park (Victorville)

2. Big Bear PaddleFest 2012
Prefer the water? Then head up to Big Bear Lake for some family fun with a splash!

3. Healthy Fontana Nights
If you really want a jump off point here’s a fantastic place to start!  Healthy Fontana Nights offer fun, active and educational topics for the whole family. They will get you and your family physically active and on track with good nutrition to fuel all of that family fitness headed your way!
All presentations are from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For topics, dates and location go to

4. Visit a local Farmer’s Market
A healthy lifestyle requires nutritious food to fuel your activity. Introduce your children to some fresh produce at your local farmer’s market. It’s easy to make a day of selecting some tasty treats grown locally and evening pulling together a refreshing smoothie or cool veggie man made from cut veggies and your creative image of a cucumber body and carrot stick limbs. Have some fun with it!
•    Redlands Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm
•    Farmer’s Market at the Pomona Fairplex on Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Free Parking!
•    Fontana Farmer’s Market is on Saturdays from 8 am until noon
•    Claremont Farmer’s Market is on Sundays from 8 am until noon
•    Riverside Certified Farmer’s Market is on Fridays from 8 am until noon
For more details, addresses and additional local Farmer’s Markets go to and type in your city’s name then look in the Welcome box in the right margin for information on your Farmer’s Market or select Local Food in the Search Box.
