Get ready for an exciting year as 2013 will be bringing some of the best events, attractions, activities, and entertainment the IE has ever seen.  Many communities within the Inland Empire are prepared to host new happenings and it’s our goal at IEShineOn.com to keep you informed of the hottest and most current events.

This upcoming weekend is a prime example of some of the new and fun things you can look forward to all year long!  Check out the list of Weekend Events happening January 10th – January 12th all over the Inland Empire.

ALL MONTH LONG, Riverside Art Museum – There are a few amazing exhibits happening here and you definitely do not want to miss.  Who says amazing Art doesn’t happen in the Inland Empire?  Not us!

“WHEELS UP: The Wheelchair as Artistic Vehicle”  Check out the exhibit details to find out more about this unique exhibit!

– American Institute of Artchitects Inland CA Chapter will make submissions to the 2012 Design Awards jury available for exhibition at the Riverside Art Museum (RAM).

1/12, Words, Wine & Wags! – Help the Beagle Freedom Project from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday with this special fundraiser. Listen to author/activist Teresa Rhyne read from her new book, taste some “dog-inspired” wines, and see a special appearance by rescue beagle, Seamus the Famous. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door



1/9-1/30, New Sculpture Exhibit – Head to the Ann Peppers Gallery at the University of Redlands campus this weekend to view the newest exhibit, “Mine: I Have Something to Show You.”  Sculptor uses wood, metal and found objects.  Don’t miss this unique show.

1/12-1/13, Book Sale – You don’t to miss the inventory clearance sale from 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at A.K. Smiley Public Library in Redlands. A bag of books is only $1!

1/12, San Bernardino County Museum – A great family workshop on fabric collage is set for 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the museum in Redlands. Designed for families with children 6 and older. Workshop is included with museum admission.

1/13, San Bernardino Symphony – Take a break from the chilly temps with a “Treasures of the Americas” concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts. Tickets start at $20 — $11 for students with an ID.

Thru 2/17, “Snow White” – The whole family will enjoy this amazing performance by award-winning playwright Wayne R. Scott starting this weekend at the LifeHouse Theater in Redlands. Check out the website for additional information incl. ticket prices; performance times vary.



1/11, Live Jazz Friday Night – The Hourglass Art & Wine Gallery, in Rancho Cucamonga, is a unique and one-of-a-kind social gathering place hosting “Live Jazz Friday Night” from 7-10PM

1/11-1/12, Ontario Reign – Head to the Citizens Business Bank Arena and enjoy an Ontario Reign game against the Alaska Aces at 8:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Don’t forget to check out the “4 for $44” ticket deal for Friday’s game.



1/12, All Star Football Game – The 28th Annual Inland Empire All Star Football Classic is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at Corona High School. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Proceeds will benefit the youth progrms of The SPORT Foundation.

1/12, Peking Acrobats – These world-renown acrobats will perform at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lewis Family Playhouse in the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center in Rancho Cucamonga. Tickets are $28 for general admission, $26 for seniors, and $22.50 for youth.

1/12, Rocky Horror Picture Show – Dress up in your best Dr. Frank-N-Furter costume and bring your toast to the weekly midnight showing of this cult classic. Tickets are $11.50 for adults, $9 for students with valid ID, and $8 for seniors.

1/12-1/13, Cable Air Show & Car Show – The 38th annual air show begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Upland Cable Airport. Adults are $7, kids 5-12 are $5 and those younger than 5 are FREE. Parking is FREE too.

Thru 1/13, Ontario Improv – Funny man Carlos Mencia headlines six shows through Sunday. Tickets are $30. 18 and older only; two-drink min.; dress code enforced.



1/13, American Legion Bingo – Get in on a good game or two of bingo at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Chino American Legion Post 299. Snacks, sodas and water will be sold. Proceeds benefit local veterans.

Thru 1/18 (select dates), Sebastian Sidi – This piano virtuoso entertains shoppers from 5 to 9/10 p.m. Friday and January 18 at The Shoppes at Chino Hills.

1/12, Pomona Art Walk – Visit the American Museum of Ceramic Art and other art venues from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Downtown Arts Colony. This event is FREE!

1/13, Swap Meet & Classic Car Show – They’re back this weekend at the Fairplex in Pomona. General admission is $8, children 12 and younger are FREE. While there, don’t forget to take in the Tattoo & Body Art Expo, which runs from Friday to Sunday. Admission is $20 at the door; $45 for a three-day pass and FREE for those 10 and younger.

1/12, Winter Trails Day – Enjoy the snow at Big Bear during the 18th Annual Winter Trails Day this Sunday. Children and adults can try out snow sports such as snowshoeing or cross country skiing. Costs and events vary. Check out the “Big Bear Grizzly” for more information.

1/13, National Dress Up Your Pet Day –  Come to Lake Arrowhead Village from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday for a day full pooch fun! FREE treats for costumed pets, costume contest, pet adoptions, dog portraits and more!

Definitely stop by the fantastic all-natural doggy treat bakery – Three Dog Bakery.  Lake Arrowhead is definitely pet friendly!  It was there that I took this hilarious doggy picture.



Thru 1/13, Idyllwild CinemaFest – Get away and enjoy a film festival here in your backyard.  Enjoy the mountain air while viewing new independent films from this year’s entries and award winners.



1/12, Bratts, Tapas & Cocktails – Get ready for Support Local Music Saturdays at Bratts in Temecula. Scheduled appearances by Indica Roots, Gatsby’s Fiddle, Kyle NcNeill, Black Bear and the Poetics.

Thru 1/13, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” – Presented by Fine Arts Network Theatre Co. at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. This show replaces the originally scheduled “Little Women.” Tickets start at $15



1/13, 2nd Sundays at the Art Museum – Free event!  2013 is looking very exciting in Palm Springs.  Palm Springs Art Museum is kicking the new year off with great activities and live art this Sunday.  Bring the family and design a chair or sit back and enjoy a Spotlight talk about an exhibit.

Thru 1/14, Palm Springs International Film Festival – Get your tickets now for the 24th annual film festival. Check out the website for dates and events.
